Dear Supporters

The petition re the proposed Sale of 69 McLachlan Street is tabled for discussion at the Council meeting to be held on Wednesday 25 October 4pm at the Bowls Club.

Please attend the meeting to show the Council that the community is concerned about the proposed sale and its impact on the future of our community.

We are asking that Council not proceed with the sale to allow time for a detailed assessment of the infrastructure and service provision needs of the community, now and into the future.

A couple of weeks ago, the Apollo Bay Community Voice convened a special meeting of representatives from Great Ocean Road Health, Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation, Apollo Bay Chamber of Commerce, Apollo Bay Arts Inc & other concerned community members to discuss potential community options for the old Kindergarten site.

It was unanimously agreed that the sale of the site should be temporarily halted to conduct a thorough exploration of its potential to provide a much needed vital and versatile community space in a strategic location.

Both the Community Hall (formerly Senior Citizens) and Marrar Woorn are consistently booked, demonstrating a significant demand for additional spaces to facilitate community gatherings and activities. Apollo Bay Arts Inc currently boasts a pottery group with over 100 members seeking a dedicated Makers' Space. Furthermore, Great Ocean Road Health urgently requires more room for consultant suites to cater to visiting mental health professionals, drug and alcohol programs, paediatric healthcare services, and more.

Write/phone your Councillors to express your support to halt the sale and also please attend the meeting, numbers do matter!

See you at the meeting on Wednesday (25 October) 4pm at the Bowls Club.
