Final stage of Colac Central Reserve Master Plan set to start this week
February 4, 2019

Work will start onsite at Colac’s Central Reserve this week, with the netball court redevelopment and installation of new lighting set to complete the premier regional reserve’s master plan.

Colac Otway Shire Council was successful in gaining a $425,000 Federal Government Building Better Regions Fund grant and a $375,000 State Government grant towards the project.

Council’s Infrastructure and Leisure Services General Manager Tony McGann said the final stage of Central Reserve’s major upgrade would include the resurfacing and widening of the two existing netball courts, tiered spectator seating for the courts and competition-grade lighting for the netball courts and oval.

“This is a fantastic project which will provide a real boost for all users of the courts and oval,” Mr McGann said.

“There has been an unexpected minor delay with start of the project but we still aim to have project complete by early May.

“This will impact the first two home games for Colac Tigers’ netballers and we are working with Tigers on relocating those games.

“Tigers had agreed to move netball training, which starts this week, to Eastern Reserve and we are working to secure Eastern Reserve for the first two home games.

“The redevelopment work will not affect the AFL’s Marsh Community Series on March 9 and we will continue to work with the Tigers to minimise any inconvenience while the project is underway.

“Spectators and netballers will be able to look forward to the completion of the upgraded courts, including Colac Tigers, visiting competitors and CDFNL finalists, and the lighting will provide exciting opportunities for night events.”
