In the off-season there has been a lot of boat preparation going. We can look forward to see some updated new and old boats expanding and exciting the Flying Fifteen fleet on the water this season.

Junior Sailors

The club would like to recognise the contribution of all the youth members have undertaken to represent ABSC members and to bring their fresh perspectives on ABSC to the committee. Thank you(th).

Congratulations to:

  • Otto Oesten-Hanger Most Outstanding Junior Sailor of the year for 2023/24
  • Lulu Imhoff-Keogh Most Improved Junior Sailor of the year 2023/24
  • Octavia Geekie, Club Person of the year recipient for 2023/24.

There are an abundance of ways to include and value young sailors in our club. Let’s do so!

Wednesday Night Sailing

Fearless commodore Jesse is initiating a Wednesday night sailing session to introduce people to sailing on Zenith – a massive keel boat. Some flying fifteen introduction and training may also take place. This will be a social and enjoyable way for new members to enjoy sailing in Apollo Bay. Hello day light savings!!  Call Jesse 0417 289 966.

Exciting News

NINE Flying Fifteens are racking up for the start of the season 7 of which have new sails. Competition is hotting up! Its like the state titles are on every weekend in Apollo Bay – so it would seem at least!

There are another 9 classic flying fifteens in Apollo Bay some of which are ready to race and some of which are being renewed. Let’s work toward getting at least another 2 boats on the water during the season.

Scintillating Facts

Did you know that on a Friday night LTS session there are often 10 boats on the water and more participants than there are in Saturday races?

And, did you also know that Davey’s Bay Yacht Club near Frankston reportedly have 25 Flying Fifteens on their hardstand yet only see 8 boats being sailed regularly!

Casual Crewing

If you’d like to sail on Saturday but you’ve other commitments or are a bit unsure, why not try casual crewing. We will welcome you and endeavour to accommodate your needs. Contact Pete on 0409224649.
