Council reviewing Apollo Bay Structure Plan

Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking community input for the review of the Apollo Bay Structure Plan (Structure Plan), which will help shape the future of Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek.

The existing Plan, adopted by Council in 2007, has played a critical role in guiding development across Apollo Bay and Marengo, establishing a framework for land use, growth and planning controls.

General Manager Community and Economy Ian Seuren said Council is interested in hearing community views and feedback to ensure the updated Structure Plan, which will include Skenes Creek, reflects and supports sustainable, future-ready communities.

“The intention of the 2026 Structure Plan review is to create a strategic direction for Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek that aligns with meeting community needs and regional planning policies,” Mr Seuren said.

“In developing the updated Structure Plan, Council will gather information on how these coastal towns can accommodate sustainable change while maintaining the qualities that make our townships unique.”

The review of the Apollo Bay Structure Plan will examine land use requirements of Apollo Bay, Marengo and Skenes Creek over the next 15 to 20 years, ensuring they are well-positioned to respond to future opportunities and challenges.

Council is encouraging residents, businesses and homeowners to share their ideas for the future of the three coastal communities by completing an online survey or attending a community information session.
