Continued improvements to Wye River infrastructure

Colac Otway Shire Council is continuing its investment in Wye River, with the next stage of road infrastructure improvements set to begin this month.
The works will support safer and more reliable access for residents and visitors ahead of the busy summer period.
The project includes road reconstruction works on Koonya Avenue and The Boulevarde. Planned works also include drainage and kerb-and-channel upgrades, retaining wall construction and road reconstruction.
This work follows the completion last year of improvements on Morley Avenue, including reconstructing the intersection of Morley Avenue and McRae Road.
Council’s General Manager Infrastructure and Environment Doug McNeill said the project reflected Council’s continued investment in local infrastructure and supporting communities throughout the Shire.
“These works are an important part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, reliable roads and drainage infrastructure for Wye River,” Mr McNeill said.
These upgrades, and the road reconstruction work at Separation Creek and Apollo Bay are part of a $7 million investment in sealed roads across coastal townships.
Works are due to start on Monday 17 August and are expected to be complete by the end of October 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.
Traffic management will be in place during construction to support the safety of workers, residents and visitors.
Council has written to residents about the project and will continue to inform residents and other stakeholders about any temporary changes to access.
Waste management services will continue during the construction period.
