Apollo Bay Community Garden and School Kitchen Garden
20th February 2023
A number of years ago The Apollo Bay College Community Garden applied for a grant with the Apollo Bay and District Health Foundation to help us afford to net the whole space to keep out the beautiful, but hungry parrots and also the foxes that periodically take our school chooks. The netting project took a little longer than expected but we are very proud to unveil the new look Community Garden, about 17 years after the whole thing began.
A massive thank you to the ABDHF for their financial support (especially to Craig Buckingham!), to the amazing Evan Roberston and the other volunteers, especially Craig Philp, for their mammoth efforts in making it happen.
Our other major works that have been completed are in the Kitchen Garden part of the paddock. Simon Witham and Chooka Murnane spent hours over summer completing the Baroque inspired brick memorial garden, begun with Dave Nelson many years ago. It looks stunning and is well worth a visit.
We welcome you to have a wander in both spaces, please just remember to close the gates, keep dogs on leads and that the food belongs to people who have spent hours growing it!
We really do appreciate the effort people have put in over the years to help both the College gardens look as amazing as they do right now.
