Mission Statement
The mission of ABRAR is to help the cause of refugees to Australia. To this end, ABRAR strongly supports the UN Convention and Protocol relating to the status of refugees (1951-1967), signed by Australia, which defines refugees as those who flee threats to their lives or freedom, obliges governments to provide refugees with education, social services, employment opportunities, freedom of movement, access to courts, and protection of their families, and bars penalising refugees who broke immigration laws to arrive. ABRAR's overriding mission priority is action to oppose refugees being demonized or treated punitively, whether by government, opposition or other agencies. In particular, ABRAR opposes the use of Temporary Protection Visas and indefinite detention of refugees.

Daily Necessities
Refugees seeking asylum in Australia receive very limited assistance, have no work rights and no family support – they need help to live. You can be of practical help by contributing to the DAILY NECESSITIES collection in Apollo Bay which will be sent to centres in Geelong for inclusion in "welcome packs" which are distributed to families.
