26th November 2018
Yr3+4 Museum Visit; Hawkesdale College Surf Camp; Yrs3-9 Surf Carnival; Yr7+8 Footscray Market Visit; Leap Program; 2018 College Art Show
Year 3 and 4 students visit the local Apollo Bay Museum at the old cable station as part of their “Local History” unit of study. Thanks to the wonderful volunteers (Pauline, Tony, Irene, Jennis, Jan and Ted) for an interesting and informative presentation. Many of the students are looking forward to visiting the museum with their families.
Our school host Hawkesdale College for a surf camp this week, with students having a go at surfing and general ocean experiences (a first for some!).
Staying on the ocean theme, we'll also hold our own surf carnival, with students in years 3-9 taking part in various events such as board races, swims and wades (and sandcastle building for those less water inclined).
The Year 7/8 cooking students head off to Footscray markets to see fresh produce of all kinds and to sample cuisines they may not have had the opportunity to, as yet.
The Leap program for students heading into Years 11 & 12 also begins, which is when VCE subjects for 2019 begin a little early to give a head start to their studies. This means some summer holiday homework, which is not always overly exciting.
The 2018 College Art Show will begin next Monday 3rd of December from 3-5pm. It will showcase VCE works and those of the rest of the school, open during the hours of 9am-4pm until mid December. Please come along and see what our students have created this year, it’s impressive!
