Colac CE encourages COVIDSafe App download

Colac Otway Shire Chief Executive Peter Brown is strongly encouraging local Colac Otway residents to download the Federal Government’s #COVIDSafe App to their smartphones.
“We have been very successful in Colac Otway in avoiding the virus, with no confirmed cases in the shire to date, and we must continue our great work to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
“I have followed the debate and understand the issues raised around the Federal Government’s phone app, and I am comfortable that the appropriate safeguards are in place to protect our privacy.
“If the government has confidence it can find and contain outbreaks quickly, it will mean restrictions can be eased while still keeping our community safe.
“If restrictions are eased, we can all look forward to seeing friends and family, businesses reopening, people returning to work, schools reopening and we can start rebuilding our community’s economy.”
