Colac Otway Shire Council to host ‘tradie breakfast’
April 5, 2019
Colac Otway Shire Council will host a free ‘tradie breakfast’ for local businesses to learn more about Council’s tendering process and how they can apply.
Council’s Coordinator for Procurement and Contracts Ben McLaughlin said thirteen trades-based tenders across various industries are soon to be advertised by Council and he hoped the breakfast information session would help businesses to apply.
“This breakfast will provide people with an opportunity to learn more about Council’s procurement process and what they need to do to apply,” Mr McLaughlin said.
“We want to encourage local trades to put their hand up for Council tenders. We know tradies have a lot to juggle running their businesses; we’re hoping this will help to simplify the tender application process – with the bonus of a coffee and bacon and egg roll too!
Mr McLaughlin said the tradie breakfast will provide an overview of the request for tender documents that Council issue and also the OH&S requirements tenderers need to meet.
“We’ll cover contract terms and requirements and walk through how to respond to requests for tender. We’ll also cover general OH&S requirements for tendering along with any special requirements relating to the thirteen tenders soon to be advertised.
“Council officers and managers from various departments within Council will also be at the breakfast so there’ll be plenty of opportunity for tradies to have a chat to staff regarding specific tenders.”
Colac Otway Shire Council’s free tradie breakfast is on Wednesday April 17 from 8am at COPACC. Registration to attend is essential, you must register before Monday 15 April. Contact Ben McLaughlin on 5232 9400 or email
