Council asks community for ideas on future use of former library annexe
September 19, 2017
Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking community comment on how the former Colac Library annexe in Gellibrand Street should be used.
After the closure of the facility in late 2015 the space was utilised by the Victorian Electoral Commission, and is currently empty.
Council is now considering the most beneficial use for the annexe. One option under consideration is to use the space for Councillor briefings and workshops.
Acting Mayor Stephen Hart said while the former library annexe was an appropriate space for meetings, he encouraged the community to provide their input in to the annexe’s use to gain an understanding of community needs and provide advice about the facility’s future.
“We are really keen to make sure we hear the opinions of our whole community about the annexe so I encourage all residents to take up this opportunity to have their say,” he said.
“An online survey asks the community to consider and comment on whether they support the use of the library annexe space for Council meetings, but also asks what other uses they could like us to consider, and what uses they believe would be inappropriate.”
