Free RSA Training for Colac Otway Youth

14th November 2025

Young people in the Colac Otway Shire aged 16 to 25 have the opportunity to complete Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training for free this December – a valuable skill for those looking to work in hospitality over the summer holiday period.

This training provides participants with an RSA certification, an essential qualification for anyone working in licensed venues. Please note: RSA certification obtained by 16–17-year-olds cannot be applied in the workplace until they reach the legal age of 18.

The course will be held on Thursday 11th December at Colac’s Central Reserve pavilion and registrations are essential as places are limited. Visit colacotway.vic.gov.au for more information and to book your place.

Participants will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to complete the training. If you don’t have a USI, you can create one online before the session.

This initiative is proudly supported by Colac Otway Shire Council to help young people gain valuable skills for future employment and summer job opportunities.

“We know how important it is for young people to have access to training that opens doors to employment, especially during the busy summer period,” said Chelsea Sharp, Colac Otway Shire Council’s Youth Engagement Project Officer. “This free RSA course is a great way for local youth to gain a qualification that’s highly valued in hospitality and customer service roles.”

Last time Council offered this training, places filled quickly – so early registration is recommended.
