Domestic Wastewater Management Plan (closes Friday 24 June)
The Domestic Wastewater Management Plan provides the framework for how Council and the community manages its onsite domestic wastewater systems (septic tank systems, treatment plants, worm farms systems, sand filter systems) in unsewered locations.
Drop-in community information session at the Forrest Hall on Thursday 16 June, 4pm – 6pm.
Development of new Environment Strategy
The new strategy will guide Council’s environmental strategic priorities and targets for our region for close to the next decade. It’s essential that community opinion shapes this strategy – we need your help. Please join us at one of the community drop-in sessions that will be held across the shire in June to have your say.
The sessions and our community survey are the first steps in the development of the strategy that will involve widespread consultation and a request for feedback once the draft has been created.

Drop-in community information sessions at the Apollo Bay Golf Club 2/20 Nelson Street:
Friday 24 June from 4pm – 6pm
Saturday 25 June from 10am – 12pm
The draft Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek and Marengo Community Infrastructure Plan (draft CIP) presents a long-term vision and concept plans for key infrastructure within Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek and Marengo over the next 20-30 years.
It was developed as a partnership project between Colac Otway Shire Council (Council) and the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (the Authority).
For this project, community infrastructure includes public spaces and facilities (managed by Council and the Authority) that support the social and economic health and wellbeing of Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek and Marengo. It does not plan for community infrastructure provided by other agencies, such as healthcare, education and emergency services.
Upgrade to the fish cleaning facility at the Apollo Bay boat ramp
The Australian Government’s Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Program has enabled grant funding of $167,200 for a planned upgrade to the fish cleaning facility at the Apollo Bay boat ramp. Delivery of the project is scheduled for 2022, with the finished facility expected to be complete before the 2022/2023 summer holiday season.
Colac Otway Shire invites feedback in relation to this exciting new project. Feedback from fishers, boat ramp users and the general community will assist in establishing user needs and design criteria for the planned upgrades.
