Helping Colac Otway households cut costs and switch to cleaner energy
22nd October 2025
The Electric Homes Program is helping more Colac Otway Shire residents switch to cost-saving, all-electric living, with Council supporting the program for a third year.
Participants across Colac Otway can access exclusive pricing and reliable installers, potentially saving thousands of dollars on energy bills.
The program covers products and services including home energy audits, draught proofing and insulation, hot water heat pumps, heating and cooling split systems, induction cooktop installations, solar and battery systems, electric vehicles and chargers, and eBikes.
The initiative supports residents to take practical steps to switch to electric solutions for heating and cooling, cooking, hot water and transport.
This is the third consecutive year that Council has participated in the Electric Homes Program, and we are looking forward to seeing the program continue to grow.
Council’s Manager Sustainable Environments Dora Novak said switching to an all-electric home could help people cut power bills, improve air quality in the home when compared with gas appliances, and reduce their impact on the environment.
“We know people want to save money and make their homes more comfortable, this program makes it easy to start,” Ms Novak said.
“The Electric Homes Program takes the guesswork out – it connects you with trusted suppliers and good deals, so you can make changes that really work.”
“Electric appliances are cheaper to run and better for your health,” she said.
Across the region, the program is reducing CO2 emissions by 319 tonnes per year and saving residents collectively $77,672 per year on energy bills. Locals are already benefitting – get involved to cut costs, increase home comfort and support sustainability. Go to electrichomes.com.au.
The program is delivered for across the region by Geelong Sustainability, an energy focussed not-for-profit organisation.
