Nominations open for 2018 Colac Otway Australia Day Awards

The 2018 Colac Otway Shire Australia Day Awards are now open, and Council is calling on the community to nominate someone they believe is an inspiration in our shire.
The Australia Day Awards acknowledge the efforts and commitment of those who have made a significant contribution to our community as a whole.
Mayor Chris Potter said that anyone in our shire was eligible for nomination.
“Council’s Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions made by outstanding people and groups in our community that inspire us through their efforts,” he said.
“If you know someone changing lives in our society for the better, who has done the hard yards and been an innovator with a positive impact on people’s lives, then I’d encourage you to nominate them in recognition of their work in the community.
“Given the amount of inspiring and generous people and community groups we have in this shire I am hopeful we will receive an abundance of nominations.”
Awards will be given in the following categories:
Citizen of the Year - awarded to an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
Young Citizen of the Year - awarded to an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
Community Service - awarded to an individual or group who has performed outstanding community service during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
Sporting Service - awarded to an individual or a group that has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local sporting community over a number of years.
Arts Service - awarded to an individual or a group that has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local arts community over a number of years.
Nominations must be received by 4pm on Friday 18 August 2017.
