Great Ocean Road Marathon
29th May 2015On behalf of the Trustees of the APOLLO BAY & DISTRICT HEALTH FOUNDATION, I'd like to extend heartfelt thanks to everybody who contributed to the great success of the GMHBA Great Ocean Marathon and the Festival at The Hub on the Apollo Bay foreshore this weekend.
In particular, our thanks to all the amazing volunteers who so enthusiastically participated at various points along the route from ennett River to the finish line in Apollo Bay. We appreciate all the hard work done by Apollo Bay P-12 College, Apollo Bay Preschool, Apollo Bay Sailing Club, Wye River CFA, Wye River SLSC and Kennett River Association (ably assisted this year by Colac College) in coordinating more than 200 volunteers.
We would also like to thank our amazing major partners for their generosity this year: The Apollo Bay Bakery, the Apollo Bay Chamber of Commerce & Tourism and Grant Day James. We were also grateful for the generous sponsorship of GMHBA, who helped pay for all our volunteers' tee shirts. And warm thanks to our 3 other supporters, The Gym Apollo Bay, Community Care Chemist, and Tuxion Creative.
Our thanks, too, to all the Health Foundation Trustees, the members of the community and their visiting friends and family who also volunteered to man the Health Foundation marquee over the weekend.
We're grateful to all the stallholders who had faith in us and came aboard for the Festival at The Hub. We hope that more organisations and businesses will join us next year for an even bigger, bolder event on the foreshore over Marathon weekend.
Finally, to communities along the Great Ocean Road, thank you for embracing all the events and all the visitors to our area this year. We know that this is a very special part of the world ... but your enthusiasm has been invaluable in spreading this message both nationally and around the world through this iconic international event.
