Mega Hotel & Villas Proposal

Public Meeting Friday 12th 4-6 pm at Youth Club, Moore St.

With Colac Otway Council CEO, planning officers and available councillors, Member for Polwarth Richard Riordan, Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson, and ALP candidate for Corangamite Libby Coker having accepted invitations to attend, barring unforeseen circumstance, this is Apollo Bay’s opportunity to communicate our position on this ridiculous proposal.

Objectors Inc met with ALP candidate for Corangamite Libby Coker last week.

Ms Coker has now considered the situation and publicly taken a stance against the development. Great progress given that the matter may end up with Labour Minister for planning Richard Wynn. Ms Coker made a press release in Geelong Advertiser on Friday, and has spoken with Richard Wynn’s office.

Objectors Inc also met with Mayor Joe McCracken and Councillor Kate Hanson this week at Apollo Bay, and took them for a site inspection.

The Council, Politicians and Media are viewing the situation with increasing interest and are looking for a strong community stance to guide the decision-making process.

It is vital that the Community takes this opportunity by attending the meeting, to be seen and counted by the decision makers, and send a clear message that we do not want this style and scale of development.

Council planning officers will update the meeting on the current status of the application, the possible decision-making routes, and how the Community can influence the outcome.

Objectors Inc. will present issues to Council that need clarification, and discuss the way forward.

Representatives from the Political Parties will be invited to speak and make their respective positions on the proposal clear to the Community

The Community will have the opportunity to present questions.

The Community needs to attend this meeting,

be informed, be heard, be counted.
