Preferred Charity for the Great Ocean Road Running Festival

Participating in the Great Ocean Road Running Festival events will lead you through some of the most spectacular environs in our country. You will also experience beautiful and remote coastal communities such as Wye River, Kennett River and Apollo Bay. The Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation are extremely proud and excited to be the official Great Ocean Road Running Festival charity, and to be able to provide a direct benefit back to communities located along the race route.

With cuts to government spending and over 2.8 million visitors a year, our small communities now have to generate additional funding to maintain and improve health services for locals and visitors alike. Services such as doctors, ambulance, CFA, accident and emergency, surf clubs, ocean rescue, schools and community health organisations all receive financial support from our foundation. For example, over the past two years our grants have funded the purchase of a defibrillator for the CFA, digital X-ray machinery and an Istat Blood Testing Machine for Otway Health, start-up equipment for Apollo Bay Little Athletics and vacuum limb splints and other equipment for Ambulance Victoria, as well as gym equipment, track development, drinking fountains, etc for local schools and colleges.

Volunteers from a variety of local organisations will be providing services including drink stations and marshalling over the course of the event to help get you across the line safely.
