Skenes Creek bridge – Construction Update

Over the summer holiday period, the Great Ocean Road attracts increased visitation and we are focused on keeping traffic moving safely, ensuring smooth journeys and providing access in the event of emergencies during this busy time. To support local communities, businesses and visitors on the Great Ocean Road, we are committed to having two lanes of traffic – one for westbound traffic and one for eastbound traffic - available over the holiday period at Skenes Creek.

Construction pause – from 20 December

Crews are working to prepare the Skenes Creek bridge site for the holiday period. Works will pause from 20 December and resume from 27 January, 2026. Over this period, two lanes of traffic will be available. A section of the beach carpark will reopen during the construction pause.

The Skenes Creek bridge replacement project is delivering strong, safer structures for future transport needs, and improving connectivity and safer journeys along the Great Ocean Road for locals, visitors and industry.
