Before the year ends, we would like to share our progress in transforming the old Preschool into a usable Community Hub. As with most building projects, it is taking much longer than we had originally envisaged but will be well worth the wait!

Having secured Community Bank & Tiny Towns (RDV) Funding earlier this year for the renovation, the Apollo Bay Community Charitable Trust (ABCCT) as the legal entity to whom the property was gifted by Council (COS) is now a registered Charity with the ACNC.

The property has a new name The Community Hub and GORH will manage the bookings for the site, once it is renovated, maintain the site and use 2 of the rooms for allied health services. This will free up space at the GORH site for extra beds and allow more privacy for clients seeing the Social Worker and the Psychologist. The large space will be available to the community to book for events, meetings, workshops or anything via a booking system as is Marrar Woorn. The storage shed will also be available for community use.

The Planning Permit has now been issued by COS for change of use from a Preschool to "A place of general assembly" and for the signage below.

community hubWe engaged an architect for detailed drawings for the building permit and for accurate quoting by the builders. The works include a power upgrade, split system installation, drainage works, toilet & wet area re-build, partitioning, new entry from Pengilley Avenue for disabled access, IT allowances, painting, floor & window coverings.

With the summer season fast approaching, the completion date has been pushed out to sometime between April and August next year.

An exciting project for the community for 2026 and beyond.

Thank you for your support and patience.
