Disability Week; Art Show; Thank You Volunteers; Camps for Yrs 9, 8, 4 & 3
5th December 2022
Students got an appreciation of what life is like for athletes with disability last week. The school had access to a wheelchair basketball clinic, with Year Seven to Nine students learning more about the sport and the importance of inclusion and accessibility for people with a disability. It’s safe to say the kids went into the weekend with sore arms and shoulders! Thanks to Basketball Victoria for coming down and putting on the free event at the leisure centre last Friday.
Our amazing young artists displayed their incredible work from 2022 in an exhibition. The Apollo Bay P-12 College Art Show took place in the library building last week, showcasing the wealth of talent the town has coming through its ranks in the art space. We have no doubt some of our students will be showcasing their work on a bigger scale in years to come.
A special rendition of “You are my Sunshine” was broadcast by Matty O and our fabulous Preps last week when the school put on a morning tea to thank the volunteers that make the school operate the way it does and provide our students with the unique opportunities we cater for at Apollo Bay P-12 College.
The school year might be drawing to a close, but things certainly aren’t slowing down. A host of camps from far and wide are taking place this week. The school knows how important beach safety is where we live so the Year Nine students have committed six days to completing the Bronze Medallion camp. The Year Eights also spent most of the week in water at the highly-regarded Glenelg River Camp, while the Grade Three and Fours will arrive home today from the Anglesea Valley Lodge, where they went mountain bike riding, canoed, learned archery and tackled the ropes course.
