Citizens’ Jury to present 2050 report findings to Council in the New Year
December 11, 2017

The findings of the Colac 2050 Citizens’ Jury will be presented to the Colac Otway Shire Council early in the New Year.

Mayor Joe McCracken said Councillors delayed the presentation process so they could spend more time considering the recommendations.

“The outcomes of the jury process are extremely important to Council, and we have convened an extra two workshops. The first workshop will provide the jury with sufficient time and resources to finalise all aspects of their deliberations, and the second workshop will enable all Councillors to understand the jury’s deliberative process and the recommendations within the report,” Cr McCracken said.

“After those workshops, there will be a special meeting organised where jury members will be invited to attend and formally present the jury’s final report to Councillors.

“The ideas that the jury has put forward are critically important to strategically planning the future development of a sustainable and vibrant Colac, and we think it’s important that Councillors and jury members can have a face-to-face discussion about the process and findings followed by a formal presentation.

“The energy and commitment of the jury members has been incredible and much appreciated by the Council. All Councillors look forward to engaging with the jury to gain a complete understanding of the outcomes reached.”
