Council awaits Planning Minister’s response following request to call in Apollo Bay resort proposal
December 22, 2017

Colac Otway Shire Council made a request in November for the Victorian Planning Minister to call in an application for a tourist resort on the Barham River Road, Apollo Bay.

A decision from Planning Minister Wynne’s office is not expected prior to the Christmas break; it is likely the matter will be raised again when the Minister returns to portfolio duties in February.

Mayor Joe McCracken indicated that it was extremely important Councillors did not pre-determine a position in relation to the development as this could create a conflict of interest for Councillors in the event the Minister decides to refer the matter back to Council.

Council will be briefed regarding the status of the Minister’s advice prior to the January 2018 Council Meeting but are not expected to consider the matter at this meeting.
