Council encourages community participation in Arts and Culture strategy
June 15, 2017
Colac Otway Shire Council is encouraging community groups and individuals to participate in the development of the shire’s Arts and Culture Strategy 2018-22.
The strategy will inform Council’s future support and services to arts and cultural programs, activities, events and projects.
The public consultation phase successfully commenced at a community roundtable at the Forrest Soupfest and will continue in various forms until 17 July.
Mayor Chris Potter encouraged the community to have its say on the strategy, to ensure a broad cross section of the community are able to input their vision for what a creative Colac Otway Shire looks like.
“We are excited to be developing this strategy, which will provide future direction for our shire’s arts, heritage and culture services and programs,” Cr Potter said.
“Our shire is a vibrant place to live and visit which is enriched by events, exhibitions, performing arts programs, heritage, live music and arts organisations.
“We urge community members to participate in this consultation process and have your say on the future of arts, heritage and culture in our shire.”
The community consultation phase includes five community workshops across the shire throughout June, and an online survey open until 17 July.
Details of how to participate can be found at www.colacotway.vic.gov.au under community consultations.
