Extra organic waste kerbside collection starting 23 October
October 18, 2017
Colac Otway Shire Council will offer weekly organics kerbside collections throughout October and November to help the community prepare for the upcoming summer season.
This initiative offers people the opportunity to easily dispose of extra garden waste that has accumulated over winter.
Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Robert Dobrzynski said the program is available for households already receiving kerbside collections, and is easy to take part in.
“From 23 October, whenever you would normally put your red bin out you can also put your green bin out. It’s that simple,” he said.
“We encourage the community to take advantage of the additional service by tidying up around their garden and preparing for the upcoming fire season.
“Simple activities like clearing and disposing of organic waste from around your property can have a significant impact in your fire preparedness, and it’s a great opportunity for a garden spring clean.”
The additional organic waste kerbside collection finishes on 1 December.
