Extra Recycling Services Over the Holiday Period

Colac Otway Shire Council is making it easier for residents to manage recycling during the busy festive season by offering weekly recycling kerbside (yellow lid) collections and free glass disposal throughout December and January.
Weekly Recycling Collections
To help households recycle more over the holidays, Council will provide additional recycling kerbside (yellow lid) collections for hard plastics, aluminium and steel cans, and paper and cardboard.
- Week One areas: Extra collections start Monday 22 December and continue through to the end of January.
- Week Two areas: Extra collections start Monday 29 December and continue through to the end of January.
Free Glass Disposal
Council is also offering free glass disposal at the following locations from Monday 29 December until the end of January 2026:
- Transfer Stations: Apollo Bay, Alvie, Birregurra
- Drop-off Facilities: Beech Forest, Carlisle River, Gellibrand, Lavers Hill
