Colac Otway Shire

Last week for Council’s 2026-27 Council Budget

23rd January 2026

Council is encouraging residents and ratepayers to put forward ideas as it prepares to form its Budget for the 2026-27 financial year.

CEO Andrew Tenni is encouraging people to contribute to this early stage of the Budget process, where all ideas can be considered.

“It may be that a single idea gains traction, or a common theme emerges that the community is seeking support for, and this will help officers and Councillors in their deliberations on where we best spend our money for maximum community benefit,” Mr Tenni said.

“And that input is really best provided now to help shape the priorities for service provision and community projects for this coming financial year.”

Council provides a wide range of services and facilities, including roads, waste collection, parks and playgrounds, sporting grounds and footpaths.

Mr Tenni said submissions were welcome from individuals, businesses or clubs and groups throughout the shire.

“We really do need to understand what is important to the community. This Council has done extensive planning and priority setting in its first year, so you may wish to view the Council Plan, or the Council Advocacy Priorities document on our website and it may trigger ideas in your area of interest.”

Share your ideas online at colacotway.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay.

Submissions close on Friday 30 January. People will have an opportunity to speak to their submissions at a future Submissions Committee meeting.
