Writer's Festival, Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Junior Staff Workshop, Tiles for Art Dept, Mobile Phone Recycling
A group of year 5-10 students went to Melbourne for the Writer's Festival as part of their creative writing prize from Literacy Week. They got to participate in workshops and listen to authors talk about their craft. We would, again, like to thank the Apollo Bay News Sheet's generous financial support which enabled this to happen.
Some very excited and nimble students from years 3-9 travelled (the long way!) to Lorne to take part in circus workshops run by the Flying Fruit Fly Troupe. Whilst we hope that students wait till after they finish school to run away and join the circus, at least they will now have basic skills with which to do so!
Junior school staff attended the second workshop on reading comprehension, focussing on extending knowledge and understanding of this area even more.
The art department continues to collect coloured floor tiles for part of the art installation planned for the new school. Please drop them at the front office or a pick up can easily be arranged.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) continues to encourage you to drop old mobile phones in at the school office, to ensure correct recycling of these handsets can occur. There are significant environmental impacts if they just go directly to landfill.
