2nd March 2015
Tour of New School; Junior Assembly; Athletics Day; Landscaping & Trees; Student Free Day
So...we expect that many members of the community are interested in having a look at our lovely new school. Well, hold on to your hats folks and pop this date in your diary - Wednesday 25th March 8:50-9:30am. On this date, we are inviting anyone who is interested to come along to view the new buildings (and the old ones if you're interested – such as, maybe, the Art Room!).
Whilst we are on the topic of dates, Friday 20th March 9:15am has been decided as the Junior School assembly date. It will be held at the Leisure Centre – all are welcome to attend.
Also, Athletics Day is this coming Tuesday 10th of March on the school oval.
Landscaping is happening at a great rate with asphalting, garden edging and paths being laid this week. Unfortunately we had to remove many of the existing gum trees along Pengilley Ave. This is for a number of reasons – an arborist report deemed them unsafe, they are on the banned list in the Education Department, the roots had grown up and cracked the existing asphalt and the preparation of the area for re-asphalting would harm the roots more, causing the tree to die and then pose a safety risk. Do not panic, we will be replacing these as soon as possible with many more trees and plants!
A final reminder that next Wednesday is a student free day as staff will be in Colac attending the second of our Stephan Graham writing workshops.
