Running Festival; Tempworkspace Performance at Melbourne Recital Centre; World Bee Day; 24 Hour Walk Challenge
16th May 2022
Staff and students arrived at school on Monday with sore bodies and husky voices after competing and cheering on competitors during the Great Ocean Road Running Festival weekend, which is a huge fundraising effort for the P-12 College. A massive shout-out goes to Patrick Liederbach for his work coordinating the volunteer roster.
Our rising star musicians Ned Carney, Finn Schwalger and Keahan O'Meara-Bromfield (and Ben Wooding who has now left our school) will perform on the big stage again this week after their success in Melbourne during Term One. The band Tempworkspace, earned a spot at VCE Top Acts 2022 and will perform on Friday night at the Melbourne Recital Centre. The students have zoomed with producers of the show, travelled to Melbourne for rehearsals and worked tirelessly in preparation for the event after they were one of about 20 VCE acts chosen from the state to perform at this very special concert - what a great effort! If you see them, ask them about the concert.
The school will be buzzing this week to celebrate World Bee Day. Our own Queen Bee, Nicola Philp, has been busy preparing for the event which is a fundraiser for the school's bee program. Students and staff are encouraged to wear black and yellow-themed clothes and will get a chance to have their faces painted, while honey-flavoured snacks and the school's very own honey will available for purchase.
A 24-hour walk challenge will take over the school this week in a student-led fundraising effort. Students from years seven to nine are taking part in the team event on a specially designed walking track and must ensure at least two members of their team are on the track for the duration of the marathon event. Chosen charities include the Conservation Ecology Centre, Beyond Blue, Red Cross, Rainbow Families and the Ayui Foundation.
