Vote for Matty O; SRC Band Bash; Kal

Our music guru and talented local performer Matt Orchard is in the running for an ARIA! Matty O was nominated for the ARIA’s Music Teacher Award, which has come as no surprise to the school community due to the magnificent work he does with our students in the House of Rock at Apollo Bay P-12 College. Stay tuned for more details, including how to potentially vote for Matty O later in the year.

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is hosting a ‘Band Bash’ live music performance this week. Students ranging from Year 4 to Year 12 will be performing either individually or in bands of up to nine students. Additionally, Year 10 to 12 VET Music Production students will be assessed in sound engineering, mixing and stage management during the event.

Student-teacher Kal Pittaway revealed he had been with us at the school for longer than we realised when he finished his placement at the College last week.  Kal, who is studying to become a teacher, spotted his novel Falling Into Place on our library’s shelves. Kal had stints at the school this term working under teacher Tim Nolan, spending time building good relationships with our students and teachers in the junior high school sector.
