Matt Gearing-Thomas; Lots of Camps; Yrs 10&11 Parent/Student Info Sessions; Student Free Day; 300 Students!!!
25th July 2022
Veteran sound engineer Matt Gearing-Thomas, a Channel 7 expert, visited the school to spend valuable time with our kids, passing on his knowledge to students like the Year 12 VET Music class in the House of Rock.
Grade Six students featured in the news on their trip to Melbourne for City Experience. Students and staff endured a four-hour wait at the North Geelong train station on Wednesday last week due to a faulty boom gate, making their journey almost nine hours from Apollo Bay to Southern Cross. But the long trip failed to dampen their spirits, with kids enjoying a scavenger hunt across the CBD, dinner on Lygon Street and visits to museums and the state library last week. Their Grade Five counterparts are currently stepping back in time at Sovereign Hill, while the Year 10s and 11s are out and about on work experience and the Year 12 Studio Art class had a visit to Geelong for an excursion this week.
A reminder to families that next Wednesday is a parent/student information session for Year 10 and 11s, while Friday, August 5 is a student free day at the school due to staff Professional Development sessions.
The school is also celebrating a special milestone after the enrolment of new students in recent months. The number of enrolled pupils at Apollo Bay P-12 College has now ticked over 300 and will no doubt continue to grow in the coming years.
