Fisherman’s Co-op; Yrs3-4 Museum Visit; Sewing Machines; Science Week
8th August 2022
A behind the scenes look at the Fisherman’s Co-op was a highlight of the week for our senior school students who partake in food studies. Operations manager Mick Wright and local fisherman Russell Frost took the kids on a tour and gave them an idea of how the fisheries industry works in Apollo Bay. “Frosty” dared students to hold a lobster, with Kai Paderno and Isaac Noseda stepping up to the challenge, while free hot chips were on the menu overlooking the harbour after watching an insightful demonstration in the kitchen.
The school’s junior pupils also visited another treasure of the town, when the museum doors opened for our Grade Three-Fours last week.
Contributions from the generous Apollo Bay community are what continue to help give our students opportunities they might not get at other schools. Our sewing room was recently bolstered by the donation of machines from Judy Hagan, Maureen Orchard and Ellen.
Hearing from a meteorologist, discussing dinosaurs, participating in workshops and going on excursions will be just some of the exciting activities on offer during Science Week, which starts at the school on Monday.
