Science Week; Book Week; Netball & Footy Finals; Winter Wild
15th August 2022
The school would like to thank Andrea De Kauwe for doing a mountain of work alongside our teachers Melissa Potter and Andrea Leader in bringing together a fascinating Science Week program to our school. Students got the chance to hear from local ecologist Georgie Custance about threatened species, and we had access to special visitors in Phoebe de Wilt from the Bureau of Meteorology and aquatic ecologist Ryan Francis. They also found out plenty more about the world of science through fun activities both inside and outside the classroom.
Our science crew will pass the baton over to our librarian Sue when a new chapter of Book Week begins at the school on Monday. A range of book-related activities will take place in the library and classrooms, second-hand books will be up for sale, and students and staff are encouraged to dress up on Wednesday in honour of their favourite book or this year’s theme of ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’ – referring to the beautiful creations, or dreamings, of the natural Australian environment.
The college is buzzing getting behind our students who will represent the town in Colac district footy and netball finals this weekend. Our under-14.5 footballers, and 15-and-under and A Grade netballers will hit Colac’s Central Reserve on Sunday in the brown and gold.
Members of the school community have also been busy supporting, or helping shape Winter Wild festivities in the Bay this month.
