Athletics Success!; World Cup Fever; Yr10 Driver Ed Camp; VOTE FOR MATTY O!!
10th October 2022

Aron Shields will represent Apollo Bay at state level in track and field athletics after the 11-year-old claimed victory in shot put during the Greater Western Junior Athletics day in Ballarat. The school had good representation at primary and secondary level at regional titles. Lira Memishi, Tom Toussaint, Noah Newton, Octavia Geekie, Tamar Holt and Rory Boyd all represented the school and were more than competitive after qualifying following success at Colac in term three.

World Cup fever centred around the World Game is set to hit the leisure centre in the coming weeks. Students will be split into teams to represent nations and play shortened games of indoor soccer during breaks. Like the soccer World Cup, the Apollo Bay P-12 version comes around every four years and has been hotly contested in the past, with staff and students having fond memories of the 2018 edition.

Year 10 students who have their learners permit or are preparing to get behind the wheel were given a boost this week when they attended a driver education camp. The school continued its annual trip to the Pre-Education Centre at Charlton, learning from professionals about the correct way to drive, while also being educated on road rules and what impact things like speed, alcohol and drugs, aggression, fatigue and peer group pressure have for drivers. The camp is fully funded by Apollo Bay’s Bendigo Bank through their Community Partnership Program.

Don’t’ forget to vote for Matty O. Our resident rocker and iconic teacher Matt Orchard is in the running for the ARIA’s Music Teacher Award after earning one of four nominations Australia-wide.  VOTE HERE
