Farewell Class of 22; Extracurricular Activities; Yr3 Camp; ; VOTE FOR MATTY O!!
17th October 2022
Our focus this week has been about celebrating the Class of 2022. It’s the current crop of Year 12s’ final week in the classroom before embarking on exams, which start next Wednesday with English. To mark the end of their school journeys, students have taken on the teachers in lunchtime games and activities, and chosen dress up themes to add some light to what is a stressful time of study. They’ll be sent off tomorrow with a whole-school assembly, which will no doubt be an emotional farewell. We wish them all the best for upcoming exams and know they will do us, and the Apollo Bay community proud.
The school prides itself on hosting extra activities after the final bell sounds, particularly during term four when the weather (hopefully) starts to warm up. Surf Cadets is back from grades three to eight on Thursday afternoons, basketball has been a huge hit to finish the week on Fridays and lap swimming at our awesome indoor pool is popular on Wednesday mornings. The school is also catering for kids wanting to learn how to code. Coding aids development of digital literacy skills and valuable soft skills like logic, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. The sessions have started this term after school on Monday afternoons.
We imagine some grade three pupils will already have their bags packed for next week’s camp at Bimbi Park, that year levels first big camp away.
You can do your bit to bring an ARIA to Apollo Bay by voting for Matty O. Our much-loved music teacher and rocker Matt Orchard is in the running for the ARIAs Music Teacher Award. Visit the ARIA website to vote, which you can do every day until November 16 - VOTE HERE.
