Careers Prep; Athletics Talent; P12 Meteorologists; ; VOTE FOR MATTY O!!
7th November 2022

Respected business leaders and a former AFL premiership footballer donated their time to help prepare Year 10 students for entering the workforce. Careers leader Nicola Philp created mock jobs for her class, with students required to deliver a resume alongside cover letters to potential employers. They then sat interviews with volunteers Di Clark, Adrian Healey, Trisha O'Donnell, Dan Holthouse, Andrew Gardiner, Jo Birley and ex-Hawthorn premiership player Joffy Simpkin, who quizzed the teens and gave them advice, which will provide them with confidence when they apply for jobs in coming years.

Talented young athlete Aron Shields just missed a podium finish at state level. The 11-year-old finished fourth at the Victorian Junior Track and Field athletics carnival in Melbourne last week, competing in the shot-put event.

Our junior school pupils became meteorologists for a day thanks to a visit from Ecolinc last week. Meteorologist Nicole taught Preps, Grade Ones and Grade Twos how scientists predict the weather, learn about the weather using a variety of weather testing instruments and investigate wind direction and wind speed. They also constructed a wind sock to take home during the session.

Matty Orchard’s ARIA campaign hit breakfast TV this week after Studio 10 approached him to feature on their show on Monday morning. Voting finishes up on Tuesday for the ARIA’s Music Teacher of the Year Award, which Matty O is nominated for, so please cast your vote by visiting www.aria.com.au/vote/music-teacher-of-the-year.
